Women Rising: Transforming Communities Through Female Leadership

The recent, significant increase in the number of women succeeding in both sports and politics clearly shows that women are achieving and making prominent changes in society. A major event was the Summer Olympics, which reached a historic milestone where women constituted 50% of the competing athletes for the first time ever. Equally notable is the political scene in the United States, where, for only the third time in the nation’s 235-year history, a woman has been chosen as her party’s presidential candidate; this moment is particularly groundbreaking as it marks the first time that a Black woman of South Asian descent has received a major party nomination.
